So, I finally returned to Krav Maga training tonight.
Oh, I didn't mention in my first post; I started Krav Maga about 2 years ago, but a little more than a month into my training, I came off my motorbike and spent just over a year dealing with pain and then niggly smaller pains that made it difficult to work out properly. Then so much time had passed that it was easy to talk myself out of returning (plus my move out to the suburbs). But after a lot of psyching myself up, I've returned!
There was pretty much nobody there tonight that I remember from 2 years ago, haha. Drew, one of the instructors, tells me that's fairly normal; that student turnover tends to churn every year or so. That's a shame, to think there aren't many longterm students visiting the same... dojo? Not sure of the best name for it.
Anyway. What an exhaustive workout! It goes from 7:15pm to 9pm, and there's very little rest time in that period. Don't be put off by that though; you actually get quite a bit of rest without realising it, as watching the instructor walk us all through a new technique can give you 5 or so minutes.
Because there's only two sessions a week at my dojo (as far as I know, anyway), the beginners are mixed in with the advanced students. That's not as scary as it sounds though, as the advanced students go pretty easy on us newbies when they're paired up with us. I spent most of the night partnered with a fellow who'd been going for 5 months, and while he knew most of what we were doing, he was very patient with me. So that was great.
Right, I have a shocking headache. Off to bed!
